Income tax raids across Shimla

Shimla (Oct 8): Owners of big business establishments in Shimla town faced some nervous moments today as about 16 teams from the income tax department remained busy unearthing disproportionate assets and income, official source confirmed.

According to Shimla-based I-T officials, the action was still underway in many parts of the state capital. State police sources also confirmed that 16 teams raided various places to find out un-taxed assets and wealth. The official said that local builders, private nursing homes and an IAS officer’s premises were being raided by the income tax teams.

According to Shimla-based additional director of I-T department, Shashi Saklani, about sixteen teams conducted raids in the offices of five builders and contractors in Shimla and Kangra districts.  The teams also sealed the lockers and bank accounts of these people. The contractors and builders raided included Vijay Sood of Kangra district, Goel Builders and Motors, Sanjay Sood, Hemant Popli and Naresh Chauhan of Shimla.
