Shimla (Oct 4): Major tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday registered a sudden spurt in tourists footfall as NCR declared a fortnight of vocations in the wake of Commonwealth Games in schools and offices.
Major tourist destinations, which were in hibernation in the current lean season of autumn, registered sudden boom as major hotels, restaurants witnessing crowds. Due to weekend break on Saturday, Shimla town saw unexpected footfall of domestic tourists as Indian Coffee house, Sher-a-Punjab eatery, Ashiyana and Baljee restaurant were packed to their full capacity since early morning, and local were confused seeing the unexpected rush.
“Tourists resort Manali, Dalhauise, Dharamsala, Kasauli and Chail also recorded rush of tourists as most of Himachal tourism (HPTDC) hotels and restaurant were occupied to their optimum capacity,” tourist information officer Varun Sharma told HimVani. About half-a-dozen inter-city HRTC taxis in Shimla too were crowded throughout the day.
State witness footfall of about 1.40 crore tourists annually but and capital town and Manali are most preferred destinations, In the peak season two witnesses 50 thousand to 1 lakh tourists daily however most left after just touching the town for one or two days but now two week common weatlh game holidays would help to hold up for longer duration.
The unexpected rise in number of tourists would hope to develop high end tourism and businessmen also thriving chance of further improvement in coming Navratra and festival seasons.
