Una (Oct 1): A court in Una dismissed two civil defamation suits against Union Steel Minister Virbhadra Singh, initiated by former chairman of State Subordinate Service Selection Board, Hamirpur and retired IAS officer SM Katwal, here today.
After hearing both the parties, civil judge (senior division) RK Sharma delivering his verdict maintaining that speeches given by the respondent were not to tarnish the image of the plaintiff. Katwal has levelled charges on the Union minister when he was Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh for making alleged malicious and defamatory statement against him during a public meet in years 2003 and 2004.
The court dismissing the plaint of the plaintiff today maintaining that charges could not be proven against the Union minister on lack of solid evidence.
