Shimla: Himachal Pradesh state unit of CPIM has forewarned the BJP regime in the state not to bow down to the interests of big builder companies and accordingly frame policies to suit their interests.

Tikender Singh Panwar, member of CPIM state secretariat, said in a statement that the efforts on the part of the state government to lift the ban on construction in 17 green zones or belts of Shimla town points towards the vested interests at large. “It is intriguing to note that the government that boasts of carbon credits is actually allowing the entry of big construction giants in the green belts to suit the interests of big builders and ruining the green cover,” the CPIM stated.

“The party will unequivocally oppose lifting ban on construction activities in the green belt, which de-facto would imply new houses not for the people of Shimla town but resorts or bungalows for the rich and powerful groups,” the statement added.
