Shimla A Rs 2.9-crore project has been sanctioned for Himachal Pradesh for establishing Embryo Transfer Technology (ETT) Laboratory, import of embryos and training in this technique.
A government spokesperson today said that one assistant director and one senior veterinary officer from Himachal were provided training in ETT in Germany, following which a beginning in propagation of ETT technique in the state was made by the animal husbandry department this year by purchasing embryos from Ludhiana. These embryos were further implanted in cows at the departmental cattle breeding farm, Bagthan and success has been obtained in one case. Two veterinarians have been sent to ETT laboratory at Kalsi, Uttarakhand, to acquire further expertise in this technique.
