Mandi: Himachal Pradesh Information Commission has ordered a departmental inquiry against National Highway Authority Xen stationed at Jogindernagar, PC Katoch, for providing wrong information to the applicant. It has also ordered Rs 2,000 compensation to the complainant, besides disciplinary action against the officer.

RTI activist advocate Ramjet Chauhan had on May 26 and June 2 this year asked for some information about the Jogindernagar division of the National Highway under the Right to Information Act. In reply, the PIO had mentioned that the tender process for the works under question had not been completed and therefore work had not been allotted.

On June 3, 2010, Jagdeesh of Mandi RTI Bureau also asked for the same information. In reply, he was informed that the tender process for the said works was completed on May 20. Finding two different answers for the same set of questions, Chauhan approached the state information commission, which found the Xen guilty of providing wrong information.

    • Kudos to the Commission for ordering departmental action against the Xen for providing wrong information. Sarkari employees should  realize that they are public servants and need to take the public seriously and not casually.
By the way, which car is named Xen?
