220 tourists stranded at various points in Kinnaur

Shimla: As many as 220 tourists, including 40 foreigners, are feared stranded at various points in flash-flood and rain-hit Kinnaur district for last many days. Meanwhile, the Met office has warned heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state during next 24 hours.

Report just received from Kenner said that about 200 tourists, including 20 foreigners, are stuck in Sangla valley for last six days, while 20 other, 15 Indians and five foreigners, are stranded on a link road in Bhavaghat and Sorang valley, respectively.

The district administration is trying to open the Hindustan-Tibet Highway, blocked at several places due to unseasonal excessive rain and snow in upstream areas.

As many as eight Kaccha houses have been grounded in Rampur and Rohru sub-division following excessive rainfall and flash flood. The traffic on Theog-Rohru highway has remained disrupted for last two to three days despite dozens of earth-movers working round-the-clock at several places to clear the road.
