CM flags off fleet of new fire tenders as eight fire stations set to become functional in the state

Shimla: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister flagged off a new fleet of 11 fire tenders from Central Telegraph Office (CTO) today. With this the fleet strength of fire tender in the State has gone from 77 to 88. He said that an additional fleet of 8 fire tenders would be added in near future to raise the strength of the fleet to 96.  New fire tenders shall be positioned at Rampur, The Mall, Shimla, Chhota Shimla, Tilak Nagar (one water tender and one water bouser), Nahan, Paonta Sahib, Mandi, Dharamshala, Baddi and Una. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that eight new fire stations were likely to be made functional at Kaza, Keylong and Udaipur of tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti, Amb in Una district, Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district, Banikhet in Chamba district, Nadaun in Hamirpur District and Joginder Nagar in district Mandi.  He said that it would be for the first time that three fire stations would be opened in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti at the same time. He said that state government would motivate industrial sector to open fire stations in the industrial areas of Kala Amb in district Sirmour, Amb and Gagret in district Una, and  Gwalthai in district Bilaspur. He also pointed out that necessary manpower was being made available to man the fire stations and process was on to meet the requirements of proposed fire stations. In all, 77 posts of different categories had been sanctioned, out of which 41 had been filled up and process of filling up the remaining  36 was also in progress.
