Shimla: As many as nine people have died and 30 others are suffering from a mysterious fever in six gram panchayats of Pandra-Bish area of Rampur sub-division, the area MLA claimed today.
According to Congress legislator from Rampur assembly segment Nand Lal, said Jhaguri, Phancha and Kut panchayats have been the worst affected. He said that a link road to this area has been blocked due to recent rain and therefore it has become difficult to carry the victims to hospital.
Rampur medial officer Dr KK Rattan told HimVani that a team has been rushed to the affected areas. He said that the nature of fever is yet to be ascertained.
People alleged that most local hospitals and medical centers in the affected area were running without any doctor and sufficient medical staffs. A majority of victims have been above 50 years of age. More information about the epidemic is awaited.
