New Delhi: Senior Indian Administrative Service officer Asha Swarup, a Himachal cadre officer, has taken over as the secretary of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, becoming the first woman officer to hold this post in the ministry. Swarup was earlier special secretary and financial adviser in the department of commerce and industry. Swarup is from the 1973 batch in the Himachal Pradesh cadre.
