Conductor falls from bus roof, injured

Nahan: A private bus conductor was injured seriously when he fell down from the roof of the bus when the driver suddenly started it off at Puruwala on Nahan-Paonta road today.

The injured, Lucky Mehta, was taking fare from passengers who were sitting on the roof when the bus driver suddenly put his feet on the accelerator paddle. The conductor was immediately rushed to a hospital in Uttarakhand in a critical condition where his condition is said to be stable.

Is it not an eye opener?On one hand the ministers issue statements that 'stern action' will be taken against those who violate rules and no overloading will be permitted in the buses,whereas the ground realities are different. People travelling on roof top and conductor issuing tickets there! Serious accidents have occurred in the recent past and even the chief minister had issued similar statement while mourning the deaths of the victims. The buses overloaded with people on roof top pass through many police posts and thanas in gross violation of traffic rules. Either our leaders shed crocodile tears on such occasions or the administration cares little about them!
