Shimla: The Union ministry of road transport and highways (MORT) has approved the Term of Reference (TOR) of Himachal Pradesh government for preparation of feasibility study/detailed project report for construction of Theog bypass in Shimla district. This was disclosed by Thakur Gulab Singh, public works minister here today.
Thakur Gulab Singh said that with this the decks have been cleared for construction of the Theog bypass as the state government would soon invite tenders for preparation of feasibility report. He said that this would facilitate the fruit growers and general commuters of the upper Shimla area.
Singh said that to avoid traffic congestion, the state government was constructing Hamirpur bypass at a cost of Rs 24 crore and Palampur bypass at a cost of Rs 5.35 crore. He said that Kufri bypass in Shimla district was being constructed at a cost of Rs 6.8 crore. He said that the government also plans to construct bypasses for Sundernagar, Jogindernagar and Manali towns, for which the alignments have been approved and DPRs are in the last stage for sanction.
