Shimla: Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to furnish detailed information on the number of officers facing trials under corruption and those reinstated in service by revoking their suspension.

While hearing a petition, the division bench headed by Chief Justice Kurian Joseph sought details of such officials asking the state to explain whether it had applied its brain before revoking suspension of such officers. The petitioner, former assistant drugs controller Sher Singh, who was suspended in a bribery case, prayed for staying the departmental proceedings initiated against him.

During the hearing, the court noticed that the state had reinstated numerous officers facing trials under the Prevention of Corruption Act and observed from the record that the petitioner, against whom a vigilance case is pending trial, had been reinstated in service.

The court fixed next hearing on September 1, and passed orders directing the government to furnish information within a week.
