Shimla: HP Judicial Academy is organising a four-day orientation training program on “Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, The Mental Health Act, 1987 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000” from 25th to 28th August, 2010, at Shimla. Commencing today, it is to be attended by about 18 judicial officers form the rank of Civil Judges (Sr. Division)-Cum-CJMs, Addl. to CJMs and JMICs. This training will conclude on 28th August, 2010.
The training was inaugurated by Justice D.D. Sud, Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh. While inaugurating the training Hon’ble Shri Justice D.D. Sud apprised the Participant-Officers with the provisions of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, The Mental Health Act, 1987 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 and the procedure laid down there under. His Lordship asked the participating Judicial Officers to deal with the cases of mental health, juveniles and domestic violence effectively and timely in order to provide speedy and economic justice to the general litigant public. There is need to bring functional and attitudinal change while dealing with such type of cases. He also asked them to be very careful in disposing off the cases so that the acts are not misused. He equated the skills of the Magistrate with that of the surgeon and advised them to be cautious in dealing with the domestic violence cases so that the aid of Domestic Violence Act reaches to the needy, but not effecting others who are innocent.

Sharma, Director of Judicial Academy, warmly welcomed His Lordship Hon’ble Mr. Justice D.D.Sud, Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh, all other dignitaries, guests and participant-officers to the inaugural ceremony of the training. While welcoming Hon’ble Sh. Justice D.D. Sud, and other dignitaries he said that the aim of organizing this four days Orientation Training Program for the Judicial Officers is to enhance their skills, knowledge and also to apprise them of various provisions of these Acts, which will help them in timely disposal of cases pertaining to the domestic violence, mental health and also the cases of juveniles. On the inaugural day of the training program tree plantation was also done by His Lordship, Hon’ble Sh. Justice D.D. Sud with the aim to plant more trees and save the environment.
During this four days training program, the Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of H.P. and other Resource Persons will address the participant officers and enlighten them with their valuable views on different topics relating to these Acts and procedure laid down there under.
