Nature Watch hails govt for making cow slaughter Act more stringent

Shimla: Pro-animal NGO Nature Watch India has expresses its appreciation for approval of HP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Amendment Bill-2010 in the state Assembly during ongoing monsoon session.

Exhorting the move, Rajeshwar Singh Negi, national convener of NWI, said in a statement that it would improve animal welfare and man-animal conflict management measures. In a letter written to the CM, Negi has further urged him to also incorporate the other suggestions and demands raised vide memorandum of NWI on February 20, 2009, submitted to him in this regard to make the said Act more comprehensive.

For effective implementation of new Act, NWI stressed the need for effective monitoring and implementation of the Act by creating designated police check posts at borders points as also depute flying squads at various points in the state used for sale/transportation and dumping of abandoned cattle.
