Dharamsala: It’s been almost a month since the infamous “hit-and-run” killing incident took place near Chinmaya Tapovan in Dharamsala, which took life of a woman named Kamla Tank, aged around 50 years, but the police is still clueless and nothing seems to work for them despite having tried every trick in the book like forensic investigation, finger-print scanning. etc.

Two days back police started rounding up local taxi drivers, bus & jeep drivers for questioning without any concrete evidence against anyone, thus causing a lot of resentment among the locals here. It is pertinent to mention that on 26th of July, Kamla Tank was found killed (face shattered) on the Tapovan road at around 8:15 pm, after she had left her home for a regular evening walk. Police investigations revealed that it was purely a hit-and-run case, but the whole inquiry has been directionless till date. Police are facing pressure from all sides as investigations are pointing nowhere and the victim’s family has given an ultimatum of taking to streets if the guilty is not brought to justice. Local villagers are also upset with the authorities for labeling innocent people as probable “suspects”.

When approached by the relatives of the deceased and local villagers, SSP Kangra Dr Atul Fulzhele assured them that the guilty would be arrested soon.

  1. I guess there is nothing wrong in investigation. How would police solve such hit n run cases where there is no such eye witynesses?

  3. Whoever did this should come forward. Whatever will happen to this person would not be any worse than having to live with the secret that they left a person to die like a dog. The police should assure that if the culprit gives themselves up, they will be treated with dignity and receive a fair trial.
