Shimla: In order to place accountability for the 187 five-plus storey buildings raised after bypassing existing norms in Shimla, the town and country planning department is now contemplating to bring amendment in the existing construction and regulation laws.

Responding to a query raised by Sukhvinder Sngh Sukhu (Cong. Nadon) during the Question Hour today, urban development minister Mohinder Singh Thakur said that a private agency has been assigned the responsibility to gather information about the status of deviation and violation of norms.  He said that after studying the survey reports and consulting the members of the House and people’s objections on the issue, a bill would be brought to amend and regulate the existing structures in Shimla.
