Shimla: The monsoon remained vigorously active in Himachal Pradesh today, disrupting normal life as many parts of the state were lashed with heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours. Dehli-Shimla, Dehli-Kullu and Delhi-Dharamsala bound Kingfisher flights remained suspended for second day today due to heavy rainfall and overcast weather in the state, Shashi Bhushan Sharma Airport Manager of Kingfisher Airlines told HimVani.
Reports arriving here from Mandi said that the century-old Dadaor bridge linking Chandigarh-Manali NH-21 was partly damaged due to rising of water level in ‘Sukati river.’ Traffic had to be diverted via Dadaor bypass since last night. Meanwhile, the 1500-MW Nathpa Jkakri Power project and 900-MW Dehar projects remained closed due to high silt level in water.
Dehra Gopipur in Kangra district experienced highest 128 mm rainfall in the state, followed by Sujanpur Tira 125 mm and Bhoranj 76 mm in Hamirpur. In Mandi Sundernagar had 104.4 mm, Pandoh 98 mm, Gohar 92 mm, Dharmpur 59 mm and Karsog 56 mm respectively. Nagrota-Suriyan in Kangra 79 mm, Kheri in Kullu 78 mm, in Bilaspur Bangana 75 mm, Gular 71 mm and Ghamroor 41 mm. The capital town recorded 70 mm rainfall, Jubberhati 66 mm, Dharamshala in Kangra district 58 mm, Palampur 43, Bajnanth 53 and Nurpur 50 mm.
The met office said that rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in the plains and mid-hills and at many places in high hills during the next 24 hours.
