Mandi: Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is to flush out silt from the Pandoh dam at 4 pm on Monday by opening all five watergates, which is  likely to flood the downstream areas, due to which red alert has been sounded for areas adjoining the river in district Mandi and Kangra.

According to Kangra deputy commissioner  RS Gupta, BBMB has decided to flush out silt accumulated in Pandoh Dam after heavy rainfall in its catchment areas. He said that people living on both banks of Beas river from Pandoh dam of Mandi district to Pong dam of Kangra have been warned and asked to evacuate to safer places as the water level is expected to rise following flushing out of siltted water.
