Fatehpur: A woman from Dhameta in Kangra district has alleged that her husband has been kidnapped in Rajasthan where he had gone to look after his land.

Rajesh Kumar had gone to Khajuwala in Bikaner about one month back and did not return from there. His wife Vandana Sharma alleged that he had called up from Bikaner railway station (from number 01870 258312) informing her that he had been badly beaten up by a group of about six people. She feared that these people were the same who were involved in a legal battle with them regarding the land allotted to them as Pong Dam oustees. A case has also been registered at Kotgate police station in this regard.  It may be mentioned that hundreds of people who were displaced after construction of Pong Dam were allotted land in Rajasthan, but they have been finding it hard to manage the property either due to inhospitable desert terrain or encroachments by local people there. The governments of the two states are yet to arrive at a final settlement of land allotment to the oustees.
