Centre releases SGSY grant-in-aid to Himachal

Shimla: Union ministry of rural development has released grant-in-aid worth  Rs 2,32,24,000 as the first instalment of central share of funds for the implementation of Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana  to be spread over 11 districts of Himachal Pradesh during the current financial year.

According to Press Information Bureau Official here, the amount would be released to respective district rural development agencies. District-wise details of the grant-in-aid is as follows: Bilaspur Rs 14.29 lakh, Chamba Rs 38.61 lakh, Hamirpur Rs 16.52 lakh, Kangra Rs 52.37 Lakh, Kinnur Rs 2.38 lakh, Kullu Rs 9.36 Lakh, Mandi Rs 34.39 Lakh, Shimla Rs 25.99 lakh, Sirmour Rs 10.99 Lakh,   Solan Rs 14.70 lakh, Una Rs 12.64 lakh.

The objective of the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) is to bring the assisted poor families (Swarozgaries) above the poverty line by ensuring appreciable sustained level of income over a period of time. This objective is to be achieved by inter alia organizing the rural poor into Self Help Groups (SHGs) through the process of social mobilization, their training and capacity building and provision of income generating assets.
