Shimla: Two persons were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents that occurred overnight in the state as five loaded trucks rolled down, in one case due to bridge collapse.
The first mishap occurred under Basantpur police station as four trucks loaded with cement on the Basntpur-Kingal road parked on the Army Valley Bridge at Notikhud went down as the bridge suddenly collapsed, plunging down all the four trucks into 300 feet deep Noti river killing one and injuring two others.
Eyewitness narrated that three trucks were parked on the bridge and the drivers were having food in a nearby food shop. As another truck was crossing the bridge, it collapsed sending all the four vehicles into the river. Prem Singh (conductor) from Nalagarh died on the spot while Harjeet Singh (driver) and Pardeep Kumar of Nalagarh sustained injuries and were brought to IGMC Shimla here.
In another mishap that occurred at Bharot-Kanchi, 5 km from Narva in Chopal sub-division, a truck loaded with apples fell down into a deep gorge killing one on the spot while injuring four others. The injured were brought to Narva primary health centre, from where two were referred to IGMC here. The deceased was identified as Sanjay (27), son of Jia Lal, from Vijmal village of Narva.
