Bus mishap toll rises to 5; locals thrash SDM

Shimla: Death toll in Tuesday’s bus mishap near Narva of Chopal sub-division in Shimla district has risen to five with three more missing persons being declared dead. 26 others were injured as the Shimla-Kupavi HRTC bus fell into a flooded rivulet as it was crossing it.

Meanwhile, angry locals today gathered outside the sub-division magistrate office in Chopal and thrashed SDM Ramesh Chand, alleging that he failed to launch rescue operation on time.

The body of Laik Ram of Dhar-chanan village has been recovered, while a child, Alima, daughter of Kagu of Bathal village, and two women, including wife of deceased Laik Ram Kamala Devi, Mathi Devi wife of Kedar Singh of Shilai in Sirmaur district and one Suresh Chand of Sujanna village of Theog have been declared missing.
