Shimla: In order to encourage people to report vital information and clues regarding any crime without any hitch, Himachal Pradesh Police has decided to entertain information received through SMSes sent on a police helpline number. Himachal Pradesh DGP DS Minhas said that the state police has launched SMS service through the mobile number 9459100100.
Any citizen could pass information or seek assistance through this mobile number, he said, adding that all SMSes would immediately be forwarded to the concerned police officers for taking appropriate action. Minhas added that brief information on every SMS would also be forwarded through police wireless network and all the messages would be directly monitored from his office. Terming the step vital and important for timely response from the police, he appealed to the general public to make best use of this facility so that they could get police assistance without any hassle.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Himachal Police had earlier launched online registration and revived copy of FIRs.
