Manali: Rohtang Pass was opened for traffic on Saturday after it remained closed for a couple of days due to rain, snow, landslides and hostile weather. Adventure tourists, primarily foreigners, heaved a sigh of relief with the opening of the pass.
In the adjoining Spiti Valley, traffic to Kaza was also restored, according to PRO Kaza. The road clearance work was taken up on a war-footing under the personal supervision of SDM Kaza. Light vehicles crossed over the 4,551 m high Kunzam Pass yesterday on way to the district headquarters Keylong. It learnt that from the Rekong Peo side also some small vehicles managed to reach Kaza. After week-long hostile weather, the panoramic twin valleys of Lahaul and Spiti had bright sunshine yesterday.
