Railway 'Out Agency' to manage fertilizer distribution at Bilaspur

Shimla: The Union ministry of chemical and fertilizers has agreed to open one ‘Out Agency’ of Indian Railways for transportation, storage and distribution of fertilizers at Bilaspur, while Himachal Pradesh would be getting two rakes of fertilizers soon. This was revealed by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on getting intimation about the same from Union chemical and fertilizers minister MK Alagiri today.

The Chief Minister said that the state government had urged the Centre to provide adequate fertilizer supplies to the state to meet the demand of farmers during ensuing crop season. He said that the state had also requested to open out agencies at different locations like Shimla, Hamirpur, Kullu, Dharamsala and Mandi, etc. through railways on the analogy of Jammu and Kashmir so that farmers get adequate fertilizers. He said Himachal had also placed its demand for supply of more fertilizers to meet the increasing demand of farmers. He said that the Union ministry had agreed to open an Out Agency of Indian Railways at Bilaspur, which would be operated through Kiratpur goods terminal and fertilizer supplies would be transported from Kiratpur to Bilaspur by the Out Agency appointed by Indian Railways itself. He said that reimbursement of freight would be made by the Union ministry of chemical and fertilizers.
