Disaster management workshop held

Chamba: A disaster management workshop was held here in Chamba at the behest of the district administration to review preparedness of major hydel projects in the district against various risk factors including terrorist and natural calamities. A site mock drill was also organized at Khairi, the dam site of Chamera-I.

During his address on the occasion, deputy commissioner Devesh Kumar briefed about the objectives of holding the workshop. He said as per intelligence inputs from security agencies, dams in the district were at a high risk and the administration was directed by the government to remain alert and prepared for coping with any such incidence.

Various disaster management plans for making arrangements and fighting against terrorist activities like sabotage, attacks, etc and also against natural calamities like earthquakes, landslide, flood, fire etc were discussed. SP Madhusudan Sharma, ADM Ashwani Chaudhary, executive director of Chamera-I, GMs of Chamera-II and Chamera-III and Baira Suil, DPRO, DRO, commandant Home Guards and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
