Seven die, 14 injured near Amb

Shimla: Seven people were killed and 14 others injured as a Mahindra pick-up jeep carrying them rolled down into a deep gorge at Jawar area in Amb sub-division of Una district this evening, senior police officer said.

SP Una Santosh Patyal told HimVani over phone that a overloaded jeep carrying about 26 persons from Bhota area of Hamirpur district to Amb of Una this evening rolled down into a 50-feet-deep khud as the deriver lost control over the wheels, killing five on the spot and injuring 14 others.
He said that nine critical injured were refereed to Una Zonal Hospital while five others were admitted in Amb local hospital.

The deceased included three female and two males identified as Madav Ram, Puran Chand and Swarni Devi belonging to Amb area of Una district. The two women hailing from Hoshiarpur district of Punjab were yet to be identified.
