One of the aides accompanying the President said: “The visit was quite memorable one and relaxing too.” Rajapaksa had reached here on Thursday morning on a private visit. He stayed at the Wildflower Hall hotel on the outskirts of the town. On Thursday noon Rajapaksa and his colleagues went for a short trek near Wildflower Hall, whereas his wife Shiranthi spent more than two hours strolling through the streets of the town.
“It is nice and homely to be in this town,” Shiranthi told media persons while taking a casual stroll on the Mall, the main street of this former British summer capital. Shiranthi also took back the warm memories of the state as she picked up some woolens from the shops, especially shawls.
