Gastroenteritis in Mandi panchayat

Mandi: Gastroenteritis has broken out in Sadhyani panchayat of Rewalsar block of this district. According to reports reaching the regional hospital here, about two dozen persons, including children in a cluster of villages, are down with the disease. Teams of doctors have been sent to the affected areas.

Most of the victims of gastroenteritis have been admitted in Ratti Civil Hospital. It is feared that the ailment has spread through consumption of contaminated water. Meanwhile, the IPH department has taken up the task of chlorinating water sources on a war-footing. Chief medical officer Ajai Bhanu Gupta has advised people to take only boiled water as a precautionary measure and admit the patients to the nearest hospital or PHC without delay.
