Hamirpur: The department of weights and measures during a special checking drive challaned thirty-one traders in the district for violation of Weights and Measures Act and a sum of Rs 92,259 was recovered as fine from them. In all, 151 checkings were made by the department, according to deputy commissioner Abhishek Jain.

Jain said that the department took the action following complaints of less weighing, charging more than prize fixed by the administration and charging more than printed rates. He sought cooperation of the people in keeping the price line under control and appealed them to report the matter to the district authorities if they find any discrepancy.
