Shimla: A one-day environment awareness programme was organised by WWF-India’s Shimla field Office at Government Senor Secondary School, Ghanahatti with the theme “Many species, One Planet, One Future,” to mark World Environment Day. More than 450 students and 30 teachers participated in the programme. Painting and slogan writing competitions were organnised on the occasion.
A presentation on high altitude wetland conservation, climate change in HP and bird watching was given by Dr Sanjeev Sharma, senior project officer, WWF-India. Another presentation on wildlife conservation in HP was given by Shalinder of WWF-India. A documentary movie on wildlife and environment conservation was also screened for the students. Sarika Ahuja coordinated the programme. The winners of the different competition held throughout the week will be awarded on June 5 on the occasion of World Environment Day.
