Shimla: Himachal Pradesh state secretariat of the CPIM has strongly condemned attack on Bihari Sewgi and Sanjeev Negi (leaders of CPIM), allegedly by people hired by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), today in Rekongpeo.
CPIM HP state committee Rakesh Singha said that HCC is executing 243 MW Kashang hydel project in Kinnaur district and “people hired by it chased CPIM leaders in over half-a-dozen vehicles and attacked them with stones, swords and iron rods.” Both Sewgi and Negi are reported to be serious. CPIM has demanded immediate arrest of the attackers. Since last one month, villagers in the area have been protesting for compensation and such other demands related to HCC. The aforesaid leaders are leading this agitation.
