Dharamsala: A failed kidnapping bid near the Himachal headquarters of Dera Sacha Sauda near Nagri has fuelled tension in the area as people are up in arms against the Dera management. Tension developed in the area after news regarding alleged kidnapping of three kids spread in nearby villages. The relatives of the kids and local people attacked the Dera employees on Saturday, beat them up and also damaged Dera property.

Locals are of the view that the Dera premises are already being used by outsiders for suspicious activities and the building is also illegal. They also alleged that the kidnappers threatened to kill the kids.

On the other hand, Dera spokesperson Ashok said, “This is a ploy by a particular community to defame the Dera here. The premises have not been used by the Dera management for any religious programme because of the controversy surrounding the legal status of this property.”

Police have registered a case against unknown persons on the complaint of villagers and also placed two Dera men under custody for interrogation. Also, another case has been filed against the local people for causing damage to Dera property.
