Dharamsala: A school teacher was booked for molesting a girl student, following protests and locking of Government Senior Secondary School, Piasa, by an irate mob of villagers in Dehra sub-division of this district today.
Kangra district additional police chief Sanjeev Gandhi said, “Villagers locked the school to protest against the alleged ‘inaction’ of the authorities in dealing with a physical education teacher accused of being involved in sexually harassment of a girl student.” Following the demonstration and protests by villagers, Dehra SDPO reached the site along with police and got the school opened and assured legal action against the said teacher.
Father of the victim girl said that when his daughter told him that she was being teased, harassed and molested by Lalit Sharma, he approached the said teacher, who assured him that he would get himself transferred from the school but he failed to do so and continued to tease her. He said that the school authorities too were informed about the incident through the PTA, but nothing happened. Gandhi, said that a case was registered against the teacher under Section 354 of IPC. He said that Lalit Sharma has been absconding since today morning.
