Devastating fire engulfs 40 houses in Kullu

Kullu: More than 40 houses were gutted, 22 of them completely, in village Jaugi under Deem panchayat yesterday. Panchayat pradhan Nogu Ram said that no loss of life was there and the fire broke out in the noon hours due to a LPG cylinder blast. Deputy commissioner Kullu, BM Nanta, said the village was about 45 minutes walk from the road head and fire tenders or fire fighting equipment could not be carried to the spot. However, he said that the IPH department has been advised to make emergency arrangements. Nanta further said that SDM Kullu has been advised to rush at least 10 tarpaulins and 50 blankets to the village. Immediate cash relief as per the relief manual has been arranged to be distributed to the victims, he added.
