Shimla: An HRTC bus from Rohru depot caught fire while it was ascending upward on a hilly road at Astani area of Rohru sub-division and was reduced to ashes. Luckily, all passengers escaped unhurt. Police source said that the bus was on its way to Machara from Rohru, when short circuit in the vehicle battery triggered a spark. When the fire tenders arrived at the spot, the whole bus was already completely destroyed.
This is unusual fire accident, HRTC should ensure the safety of the people by installing fire fighting equipments inside the each vehicles.
Such incident would cost heavy on all ready debt ridden HRTC which infact giving best services to the people as compared to other state run transport depot in the country.
The HRTC should also charge the concerned battery firms suppling substandard quality of appliances to public utility services. After losing single bus Transport which plying about 2000 buses on each routes would now rendered one route bus less by depriving hundreds of people serviceless. Passangers should also keep eye on such untoward incidnets which are some time avoidable due to bring it into notice of staff and authority.
