One dies, seven injured in separate accidents



Mandi: One person was killed and seven others were injured, three of them seriously, in two different accidents in the district on Sunday evening, police said today.

Four members of a family of village Barwar of Saigli panchyat had gone on a pilgrimage to Prashar Lake (9000 ft) in a jeep. At Kandoo Seri the driver could not negotiate a blind curve and the fateful vehicle dived straight into a 600 ft deep gorge. Nearby villagers rushed to the scene of the accident and rescued the injured who were taken to Primary Health Centre Kataula from where they were referred to Regional Hospital, Mandi, where doctors declared Bali Devi (48) as brought dead. Three other injured persons have been further referred to PGI Chandigarh.

In another incident, a three-wheeler rammed against a parked tanker at Galu near Jogindernagar and turned turtle injuring 4 persons. A case has been registered by the police.
