Earthquake felt in Kangra valley

Dharamsala: The Kangra valley of Himachal Pradesh experienced tremors measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale on Monday. According to Dr RS Negi, incharge, Wadia Seismological Centre at Nadi, shocks were experienced by people in Kangra town at 3:20 pm, and they lasted for four seconds, The epicentre of the quake was somewhere in North West Himalayas. No loss of life or damage to property was reported from any part of the district. People in the district still remember the horrifying experience of the devastating earthquake that hit the valley on April 4, 1905, in which about 20,000 people were killed, as many as 100,00 buildings were demolished and more than 53,000 domestic animals were also berried alive. Kangra valley falls in Zone-V of seismic activity.
