Dalai Lama says ‘thank you Himachal’

Dharamsala: The Central Tibetan Administration today organized ‘Thank You Himachal’, at Dari ground near here to express their gratitude towards the people of Himachal on completing 50 years of their stay in the state.

His Holiness The Dalai Lama appreciated the people of Himachal for their support and hospitality to the Tibetan community and also praised the previous and present state governments for providing all facilities to the Tibetan government-in-exile. He also talked about India’s rich culture and heritage and also presented a beautiful thanka painting to the CM on this occasion. Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal thanked His Holiness for his love and affection towards the people of the state and said that Dharamsala was today on the world map because of him.

A large crowd consisting of Tibetans and local people witnessed the whole event and and mixing of the two cultures, which itself was certainly a different experience.

Prominent among those present on the occasion, included industries minister Kisan Kapoor; CL Gupta, chairman, HP Education Board; RS Gupta, DC Kangra; and Dr Atul Fuljale. His Holiness The Dalai Lama and Prof. Samdhong Rinponche, the Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile, along with other prominent leaders and officials shared the dais with them.
