Sr Men Handball National Championship commences in Himachal

BILASPUR: The 35th Senior Men’s Handball National Championship started today in Bilaspur.

It is for the first time that the tourney is being held in Himachal. Last year the championship was held in Ludhiana, Punjab. The Championship ends on December 28.

Including the Services and other states’ teams, a total of 26 teams are participating.

Inaugurating the championship, Ramlal Thakur, Sports and Forest Minister, honoured all the players who represented the Indian team in the Doha Asian Games by giving them Himachali caps.

The championship started with the opening match between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which was won by the latter by 25-23 goals.

  1. Dear Dolly….i got to go thru this post only today. Pls dont mind but its not true that national Sr. Men handball championship was not for the first time in Himachal. In 1986 & 1992 too Sr. National handball championships for both men & women were held in Himachal….. So pls correct.
