Shimla: About 100 activists of Tibetan Youth Congress today staged a protest to mark 21 Birth Anniversary of Gendum Choekyi Nyima, the boy recognized as 11th Panchen Lama who is under Chinese Custody for the past 15 years.
TYC Shimla president Pema Dargyal said that they are seeking immediate release of 11th Penchen Lama on his 21st birth anniversary. He said that Chinese government has kidnapped the young boy with his family when he was just 6 years old on May 17, 1995. He said that Panchen Lama is youngest political prisoner as he has been in Chinese custody for the past 15 years and People Republic of China’s authorities are still not disclosing the fact to the international community regarding his whereabouts.
He said that Penchen Lama is youngest political prisoner and despite innumerable request by various world bodies, he did not released and Tibetan people are concerning about the young boy and his family.
Expressing displeasure over not confirming about the health of detainees, he said that Chinese authorities are ignoring the request made by world bodies.
The activists carrying paper cutouts in their hand and shouting slogan against Chinese detention of Panchen Lama marched from the deputy commissioner’s office to Naza and also organized a Nukkar Rally addressed by prominent leaders of Regional Tibetan Youth and Women Congress.
