Mandi: The Mandi police are still groping in the dark about the whereabouts of Vijay Kumar, a retired manager of Punjab National Bank, who was abducted in broad day light on Thursday from the town currently equipped with CCTV cameras.

A little breakthrough was been made on Friday when the police came to know his location from the observation of the mobile phone of Vinay Kumar. No further progress could be made as his telephone was later found switched off.

It is not a solitary case of abduction in this town. Some time back, a big contractor of the town had been abducted. Later his dead body was found in the BBMB lake in Sundernagar. Similarly, the culprits of the infamous acid throwing case of Samkhetar are still beyond the reach of police. “The only good job the police are doing these days is challaning vehicles liberally under one excuse or the other,” people remarked in the market place.
