High reaches of Kinnaur experiences mild snowfall

Shimla: High reaches of Kinnaur experienced mild snowfall whereas downstream areas of Himachal were lashed with thundershowers in the last 24 hours.

The high ranges of Kinnaur – Kinner-Kailesh and Chitkul – had overnight snowfall and Kalpa also received traces of snowfall. The Sangla and Kalpa valleys had one and 0.4 mm rainfall. In Lahaul Spiti, Keylong recorded 6 mm rain, Udaipur 4 mm, Tissa and Saloni in Chamba 2 mm each, in Kullu Bhuntar 2.2 mm and Banjar 1 mm.

Following rain or snow in the state, minimum temperature fell marginally by two to three degrees as Shimla recorded 14.6 degree Celsius, Sundernagar in Mandi 16 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu 12.2 degrees, Kalpa 5.1 degrees, and Dharamsala 16.5 degrees, respectively. Minimum of Una was 19.4 degree Celsius, Mandi 17.4 degrees, Nahan 23.9 degrees, Keylong (coldest) 3.6 degrees, Palampur 18.4 degrees and Solan 14.7 degrees, respectively. The Met office said that rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in mid-hills and upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh.
