Dharamsala: Irrigation and public health minister Ravinder Singh Ravi and industries minister Kishan Kapoor in a joint statement today said that Union minister Virbhadra Singh’s allegations on providing Rs 3 crore for hosting IPL matches at Dharamsala were “totally baseless, false and mischievous”.
The ministers said that it had been made clear that Rs 3 crore had not been sanctioned for the IPL matches but for creating civic amenities and infrastructure at Dharamsala. “Since players and other dignitaries from within and outside the country were supposed to visit Dharamsala, it was but natural that they take good impression about the place,” they said.
They ministers added: “It is unfortunate that Virbhadra Singh has become habitual of criticizing the state government by making issues from non-issues with ulterior political motives, which does not behoove of a person who had remained Chief Minister of the state for years.”
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh state committee of the CPIM also deplored the state government for “gifting” a sum of Rs 3 crore to HPCA for holding IPL matches in Dharamsala. “It is quite shocking that when the state government is continuously crying for help to deal with resource crunch, giving Rs 3 crore to HPCA is indigestible,” Tikender Singh Panwar, member, state secretariat of CPIM, said.
