Nahan: National general secretary of BJP, Jagat Prakash Nadda, today alleged that the UPA government has been misleading the public about rising trend in inflation in the country by calling it a global phenomenon.

Nadda was in the town to garner support from party workers to join the April-21 rally in New Delhi. He argued that currently global inflation has been receding, giving examples of China, which has recorded ten per cent plus growth rate with inflation of only 2.07 per cent, and US with 2.1 per cent, whereas in India it has skyrocketed to 16.5 per cent.

“It is a paradox that our agriculture growth rate is at two per cent level while the industrial growth rate is touching the sky,” he said. The BJP leader accused the UPA government of keeping buffer stocks greater than the actual requirement thus leading to wastage due to the stock rotting in FCI godowns. He said that as per national norms, the country requires buffer stock of 90 lakh tonnes of wheat and 118 Lakh tonnes of rice which could be stored for supply in FCI godown, whereas at present 183 lakh tonnes of wheat and 289 lakh tonnes of rice have been lying in stores even as Union Government claimed shortage of grains.
