The leader of Congress legislative party in Himachal Pradesh State Assembly to be appointed by the All India Congress Committee Chief Rahul Gandhi, the State Congress legislative party decided today. Himachal Pradesh state Congress unit Spokesman Mr Naresh Chauhan informed that the party CLP meeting held at Rajiv Bhavan state party head office this afternoon around 1700 hours to elect the leader of Congress party in presence of party in charge Mr Shusil Kumar Shinde.
Baring former Minister and the newly elected member of Fatehpur assembly Mr Sujjan Singh Pathania 20 Congress legislators remained present in the meeting including former chief minister Mr Virbhadra Singh. The proposal to elect new Congress legislative party leader who would be the leader of Opposition in the state assembly was presented by Octogenarian leader Mr Virbhadra Singh which was seconded and approved by the HPCC president Mr Sukhvinder Singh Sukh.

The party legislative meeting unanimously passed a resolution authorizing party President Rahul Gandhi to appoint the leader of Congress legislative party who would convene the meeting of CLP before the first oath ceremony of the newly elected member during the winter session convened on Jan 9 this month. Mr Shinde latter talk with each member of assembly individually to know there view on the resolution and election of party CLP leader. The meeting lasted for ten minutes. Congress which was in the power wrestled power to BJP as it could win only 21 seats in the state.
AICC president Mr Rahul Gandhi also convened a meeting state CLP leaders and party candidate who lost the recent election. Currently, Congress has a number of senior leaders in the State assembly who could be elected as CLP Leader by AICC. Chief Minister Mr Singh, Party president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, CWC member Asha Kumari, Ram Lal Thakur, Dhani Ram Shandil, Sujjan Singh Pathania and Mukesh Agnihotri are likely to be the contender of for the Leader of Opposition who would be elected among the Congress MLAs.
