Rohtang Pass officially closed after fresh snowfall; vehicular traffic continues

    13050 feet high Rohtang Pass also called the gateway to Tribal Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh was declared officially closed by the Border Road Organisations (BRO) after the fresh snowfall on the pass, this was opened for vehicular traffic on May 23 this year. However, he said that since there is no major snowfall on the high reaches so far it was allowed to keep open by the District Administration for a couple of weeks. The BRO clears snow between Manali-Leh highway today informed the district administration that it officially declared the high way closed.

    Residents of Lahaul & Spiti which would cut off from the rest of state after mounting of snow on the Rohtang Pass still ferrying their daily need items to store it for the upcoming winter season. Manali-Leh road is considered strategically important as Indian Armed forces used this to deploy it Jawan in the forward post of Jammu and Kashmir and also supply the fuel and other food items to the Border areas.

    Meanwhile, Rohtang Pass was overcast since early this morning and there is mild snowfall on the high reaches of Kullu and Lahaul Spiti. The snowfall was the insignificant and high way is still clear to ply the vehicular traffic. People of Lahaul Spiti who ferry their offseason vegetables like the green pea, Potato and cabbage from Lahaul Valley depend upon this road to link with rest of world however it remained off in the extreme winter conditions between December to early May.

      since last 4-5 years we are planning to visit shilma, but missed our due to tour operator updating us in between when we visit 5 devi that there is no snow fall in Shimla.
      we usually reaches to simla at 2nd Jan. Please suggest and if possible please share pic to my personal mail ID-naveennadikuda@india.com or send pics in whats up to 9397958895 by 30th december what is the weather at Shimla and Kurfi, if snow fall is not there please suggest which is the nearest place, pleas time tour e do update as as we are missing snow fall since last 5 years and every time tour operators are cheating us.
