Banking services crippled in HP following nation-wide strike

All the Nationalised banks including SBI and UCO Bank remained closed in all parts of the State crippling the banking services. The customers were moving from post to pillar and making long queues outside the ATMs and Cash Deposit kiosk as employees joined the Nationwide day-long strike to protest against the proposed reforms in the banking sector.

 

The leader of Joint Banking Employees Form comrade Prem Verma said that strike was complete in the State and it was largely peaceful. They also staged the gate meeting and sat on Dharna outside respective Deputy Commissioners offices in the State. He said that the protest was largely successful and there was no report of traffic being held up and violence anywhere owing to the strike.

 

The impact of the strike was greater in major towns including state capital Shimla, Industrial hub Baddi, Barotiwala, Nalagarh, Amb in the State. There was also a complete shutdown in Solan, Dharamsala, Kangra, Palampur, Mandi, Rampur, Kullu, Manali, Una and Hamirpur town.
