A delegation of Newly elected Shimla Municipal Councillors (SMC) led by Shimla Member of Parliament Virender Kashyap called on Prime Minister Narender Modi in New Delhi today in Parliament House requesting to sanction world bank aided Rs. 720 Crores cost Greater Shimla Water and Sewerage Circle scheme (GSWSSC) under consideration of the World Bank authorities. The Member of Parliament told the Prime Minister Sh Narender Modi that residents of Shimla Town has been facing acute shortage of drinking water and problems of sewerage system due to steep rise in population and great influx of tourist every year. He said that the water supply system has fallen short due to heavy load of new constructions in the Municipal areas and heavy tourists incoming especially during the summer seasons.
The delegation thanked Prime Minister Sh Narender Modi for declaring Shimla as Smart City which was declared soon after the BJP won Shimla Municipal election which was long awaited demand of local residents and will meet the expectations of both residents and tourists. The delegation apprised the Prime Minister about the main focus given by newly election corporation and told that the newly elected Corporation has taken up the “Swatch Bharat Mission” as on its top priority.
The delegation also met Union Urban Development Minister Mr Narender Singh tomar in Nirman Bhawan and discussed various problems relating to urban developments in the historic Shimla city and sought liberal financial assistance to sort out various issues relating to social and economic development of the region . The delegation told the union minister that people of shimla have high expectations from Shimla Municipal Corporation due to clear mandate given to BJP in the elections and same party in power in both the places.
The Union Urban Development Minister Sh Narender Singh Tomar assured that all problems relating to Shimla town will be sorted out in time bound and efficient manner by the Urban Development Ministry and also assured liberal financial assistance to the newly elected corporation. The delegation included Smt. Kusum Sadrate and Mayor, Rakesh Sharma Deputy Mayor and other newly elected councilor of BJP.
